Commissioned by Shangri La Construction for a community housing project in Koreatown, Los Angeles, Magnolia Sunset brings a vibrant burst of nature to the inner-city. This mural is part of a collaborative project with friends and world renowned artists Yanoe X Zoueh. The work features an explosion of magnolia flowers growing from a frame that encases a warm, radiant sunset. Some of the flowers are painted in grayscale to contrast the brilliant colors, symbolizing resilience and beauty through transition. The juxtaposition of organic floral elements with the frame structure hints at breaking through boundaries and blooming in unlikely places. Situated in one of LA’s most densely populated and culturally rich neighborhoods, Magnolia Sunset adds a welcome touch of nature and serenity to it concrete surroundings. It’s a celebration of renewal, community, and the quiet strength that grows in everyday spaces.
