Stretching over ninety feet of wall, The Plains of Time pays homage to the native Dakota and Ojibwe people of Minnesota, whose ancestors have shaped the land for many generations. The mural unfolds like a horizon: a chief gazes into the distance, calm and watchful, beside a wild bison in a golden field that fades toward the edge of day. A river winds through the scene, pulling past and present together, uniting land, people, and wildlife as relatives of one another.

The Plains of Time reflects the stories of generations of families connected to the areas we call home. It portrays the idea that time moves on, yet the land still holds everything that came before. It’s a mural about continuity, respect, and the long thread of identity that runs beneath the surface of our landscape.
